I ordered my Edmond Allen loafers about 8:00pm on Wednesday the 12th, and they were on my front porch at 2:00pm Friday the 14th. Edmond Allen shoes are Made-in-America great! Handmade quality that, with a little care, lasts a long time. Size and comfort that you can depend on. I already knew all that of course, and I no longer shop any other brand of dress shoes. Great shoes! This is my first pair of leather-soled dress shoes… definitely a lot less comfortable than rubber-soled shoes, particularly if you are planning on standing for a long period of time. Also a bit less comfortable for walking, mostly because leather soles do not really have traction. This is also part of the reason why I bought them, because they’re better for dancing.
One other problem I’ve had with both these and the Kennett (essentially a rubber-soled version of the Delray with slightly different vamp/toe) is the fact that while most of the shoe fits well, the heel feels a bit loose. I’m not sure if I should downgrade to a 10.5, as some 11’s in AE do feel large on me (and I usually wear a 10.5), but it’s not a big enough problem to lessen my appreciation of the shoe. Just received a pair of the AE Everett’s in Chili. Soft and supple leather that will require no break-in time. The leather sole is their usual oak, unlike some AE casual loafers that use some rubber and don’t feel as comfortable. AE does it again, a great winner!

I bought this shoe a month ago – at a great price. It is very comfortable and has a sleek look. One issue is that the shoe size i bought (7E) turned out to be marginally bigger (leghtwise) than what i found with another Allen Edmonds shoe of size 7 that i bought earlier. Other than that, it is been a great buy. Would recommend it highly to everyone – especially at the current posted price (5 or so).

I’ve had most of my Allen Edmonds shoes for more than 10 years and they are still great. Sending them in for a total “refurbishment” costs more than half of the original price of the shoe though, so I just take them to the shoe shop for leather full soles. Anyway, they are the nicest shoes I have ever owned. I never wear my Cole Haans – the Allen Edmonds are so much more comfortable. If they last 15 years that is per yr and every shoe shine guy will rave over your shoes. Read more...
